Plagiarismscreening

Plagiarism Screening and AI Policy

Plagiarism Screening

Jurnal Satwa Sehat Indonesia (JSSI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and originality. All submitted manuscripts undergo a mandatory plagiarism screening process prior to peer review.

JSSI uses Turnitin as the primary plagiarism detection tool.

Similarity Index Threshold

Category Threshold
Overall Similarity Index < 20%
Similarity from a Single Source < 5%

Manuscripts that exceed the acceptable similarity threshold will be returned to the authors for revision before proceeding to the peer review stage. Manuscripts with evidence of deliberate plagiarism, text recycling, or self-plagiarism will be rejected outright.

What Constitutes Plagiarism

JSSI considers the following as forms of misconduct subject to rejection or retraction:

  • Copying text, data, figures, or ideas from other sources without proper attribution
  • Paraphrasing another author's work too closely without citation
  • Reusing substantial portions of the author's own previously published work without disclosure (self-plagiarism)
  • Duplicate submission — submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously

AI-Generated Content Policy

JSSI acknowledges the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic writing. The following policy applies to all submitted manuscripts:

Permitted:

  • Use of AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, or similar) for language editing, grammar checking, and proofreading purposes

Not Permitted:

  • Use of AI tools to generate the substantive content of the manuscript, including introduction, results, discussion, or conclusions
  • Listing an AI tool as an author or co-author
  • Using AI tools to fabricate, manipulate, or misrepresent data or references

Declaration Requirement

Authors who have used AI tools for language editing or proofreading must disclose this in the Acknowledgments section of the manuscript. The disclosure should clearly state the name of the tool used and the purpose of its use.

Example of disclosure: "The authors used [AI tool name] for language editing and proofreading purposes. The authors take full responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the content of this manuscript."

Consequences of Violation

Manuscripts found to have violated JSSI's plagiarism or AI content policy will be subject to the following actions:

Stage Action
Pre-review Manuscript returned or rejected
Post-acceptance Acceptance withdrawn
Post-publication Retraction and notification to authors' institutions
